Evacuation Drills Planned for Students

By Chad Jensema

School Bus SceneThe School District of Superior transportation takes the safety of our students very seriously. During National School Bus Safety Week October 17th – 21st we practice the first of our two yearly bus evacuation drills.

The fall bus evacuation drills will be practiced and completed upon arrival in the bus unloading zones on District grounds the mornings of Tuesday October 18th and Thursday October 20th. In the event of inclement weather either Tuesday or Thursday morning, bus evacuation drills will be completed the following Wednesday or Friday.

Prior to these practice evacuation drills, drivers will read a prepared narrative explaining what student riders should do in the event of an actual emergency. Practice evacuation procedures are performed twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. These evacuation practices help students think about what to do in case of a real emergency.

Please take an opportunity to thank bus drivers for their dedication and continued efforts in safely transporting students to and from school.
