Superior, Wisconsin – The Superior Soccer Association is excited to announce an expansion of its already popular indoor Futsal program. Starting Tuesday January 6, 2015, the Futsal program will expand its offerings to include a weekly session for adults, along with their regular program for ages 4-18. This program now allows all ages the opportunity to play a form of indoor soccer without being in a league. The “Free-Play” format is just that, no fees, as well as being a free-form evening of soccer.

“We have had an excellent response to our youth program and due to many inquiries, we are expanding an addition hour each Tuesday night to include a session for adults,” said Jim Willmore, Vice President of the Superior Soccer Association and one of the organizers of the free play program. “All ages can simply drop in and play at no charge. We have four, one-hour sessions each Tuesday night beginning with the little ones at 5 pm. As a parent and coach, I know how hard it is to find indoor soccer activities for youth that are not league based in the winter and I am very excited to grow our program.”

“This is not a league, so there are not mandatory sessions or team practices that you or your child must attend. We simply encourage people to join us Tuesday nights, regardless of experience or skill level, and join in a pick-up game with others. We just want everyone to have fun, and play a little soccer.”

There is no charge for the Indoor Futsal program. Parents can register their children upon drop-off. Time frames have been established for various age ranges:
Ages 4-8      5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Ages 8-12    6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Ages 13-18  7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Ages 18 +    8 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Futsal has 20 minute halves and is limited to five players and follows different rules than soccer, such as no shoulder charges or sliding tackles. It also uses a ball with 30-percent less bounce. The rules of Futsal are listed as a web link on the Superior Soccer Association website at www.superiorsoccer.org.

Registration forms for the Indoor Futsal program can be completed at the door or downloaded in advance by visiting www.superiorsoccer.org. This program will be held at the United Presbyterian Church, 229 North 28th Street East, in Superior. For more information or if you have questions, please contact Jim Willmore at 218-590-8475.
