Superior Jaycees Give to Garrett Carr Memorial Fund

By Brittany Liberty

Superior, WI – Superior Jaycees publically announced today that a donation of $5,000 from our organization will be made to Team Carr, a memorial organization set up and ran by local community members. The donation will be officially accepted during the Jaycees’ monthly meeting on Thursday, May 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room at the Elks Club in Superior, WI. This donation confirms the Superior Jaycees mission of continual development and improvement of the community through leadership and professional development of its young professionals.

This donation will primarily be used to fund various community projects that Team Carr is involved in such as contributing to “shop with a cop”, matching vandalism rewards, a Superior High School scholarship, sponsorship of the NBC Spartan sports complex at SHS, and donations to a multitude of public safety campaigns.

Team Carr was established after a tragic hunting accident that took the life of lifelong Superiorite, Garrett Carr. Garrett left behind two children; a daughter, Alayna and a son, Nolan. A portion of the donation from the Jaycees will be donated to the memorial fund to aid in the future of Garrett’s children.

Team Carr and the Superior Jaycees partnered as volunteers for the 19th Annual Gitchee Gumee Brewfest held on April 16th, 2016. The Gitchee Gumee Brewfest is an annual fundraising event organized by the Superior Jaycees. Both organizations are committed to furthering community development and assisting in funding for various community needs.

The idea for Team Carr was developed by a group of Garrett’s friends and community members who are passionate about carrying on Garrett’s name and contributing to the success of the community. The group hopes to forever leave an impact on the local community through their fundraising efforts and the Superior Jaycees are happy to be a partner and support this great cause.
