The Superior Business Improvement District is looking for volunteers to help with their Superior Downtown Summerfest event on Saturday, Aug. 8. After the rousing success of last summer’s North Tower Avenue Grand Opening celebration, the Superior Business Improvement District is offering local residents and visitors with yet another fun summer celebration.

The Superior Downtown Summerfest will be held August 8 in downtown Superior. Starting at 11 a.m. festival-goers can enjoy a wide variety of free family fun — music, performances, touch-a-truck, kid zone inflatable amusements and games, a car show, food and retail vendors, sidewalk sales, and more.  At 5 p.m. a city-wide Summerfest pub crawl begins for adults 21 and older. For a full schedule of events, go to http://superiorbid.com/

A variety of volunteer times and duties are available. Most shifts are between two and three hours long and involve supervising children’s activities such as ring toss, inflatable games, and more. For those who are interested in volunteering, there is an online signup form to complete. Click here to go to the volunteer signup web page. For questions about the event, please call the Superior BID office at 715-394-3557 or email info@superiorbid.com

Major event sponsors include the City of Superior, the Superior Business Improvement District, the Superior Tourism Development Fund, National Bank of Commerce, Superior Water, Light & Power, Metro Credit Union, Kari Toyota, Superior Lidgerwood Mundy, Vintage Italian Pizza, Superior Savings Bank, Calumet Superior, LLC, discoverpc.net, The Androy Hotel, and Trends Day Spa & Salon.

About the North Tower Avenue Reconstruction Project and Downtown Summerfest
The core downtown area of the Superior Business Improvement District went through major reconstruction in 2013 and 2014, and in the spring of this 2014 the contractor finished planting trees and shrubs and installed amenities such as benches, trash receptacles and bus shelters. A Grand Re-Opening celebration was held in July 2014 to celebrate the completion of the project, and to rally the community around a newly-refreshed downtown Superior.

The goal for this year’s Superior Downtown Summerfest remains the same — to bring community together to celebrate a sense of place and to drive traffic to the businesses located within the Superior Business Improvement District.
