Venue Slated for Development at 1101 Tower
Vicky Main, co-founder of Twin Ports Stage (TPS), a theatre group that is trying to build an arts venue in Superior, was kind enough to take Explore Superior on a tour of their proposed location this week.
Located in a building on the corner of 11th and Tower, the space has been cleared out and is ready for construction should TPS be successful in their fundraising campaign. Their fund raising goal is $70,000…a virtual drop in the bucket compared to the $30 million dollar plus budget for the renovation of the Norshor Theater in Duluth.
The TPS group was founded in 2013 in hopes of providing a performance space for theatre and music productions in downtown Superior. Formed as a professional, non-profit theatre company, TPS honors the memory of John D. Munsell who lead the UW-Superior theatre department for many years.
According to their Facebook page, TPS plans to produce theatre, film, music, web content and other creative projects. They also seek out collaborations and original material by regional and national artists.
