SBDCUW-Superior’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Center for Continuing Education present “Encore Entrepreneurship: Essentials for Starting a Business After 50” on Wednesday, April 16, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) Conference Center, 600 North 21st Street. The public is invited; cost of attendance is $20.

“This workshop is for any one ’50 and better’ who is looking for new opportunities in retirement. Many retirees have an idea for a business, but not the resources to move forward. This workshop is helpful for entrepreneurs who are unemployed or need to supplement their income,” said Julianne Raymond, director, Wisconsin’s SBDC at UW-Superior.

Raymond says that workshop participants will learn ways to get help starting a business, what the steps are to assess the viability of their business idea, options for financing, and investment risk management.

“Many people are finding that a small business can be an ‘encore’ career,” said Esther Gieschen, program manager, UW-Superior Center for Continuing Education. “We want to give them useful tools to pursue their business ideas or, in some cases, fulfill a life-long dream.”
