As Superior starts down a new path with a new mayor in Jim Paine, so to will the Superior Chamber of Commerce chart a new course. A generational shift in leadership is taking place in Superior as our city works to redevelop our downtown via the Better City Superior initiative.

In a press release today, Minor said, “It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with the Superior community.” He went on to say, “I’ve lived in Superior for all but ten years of my life and have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience with the Chamber as President and CEO. Serving as the President and CEO of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is an exciting opportunity and I’m ready to start the next chapter of my career. I would like to sincerely thank the Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber’s Board of Directors, members, volunteers and staff for the opportunity to work with you.”

A graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management, Minor has been the chief staff member of the Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber since 1996. He is a past board member of the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, past board chair of the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Executives, and past board chair of the Mid-America Chamber Executives (MACE).

Under Minor’s leadership, the Chamber has formed a foundation that will secure the future of the Youth Leadership Program that has seen 493 graduates over the past 14 years. He encouraged ongoing partnership between the Chamber, the Superior School District, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

According to Chamber sources, membership has doubled during Minor’s tenure as Chamber President.

“Mr. Minor has been an amazing asset to the Superior-Douglas County community for over two decades,” said Charlie Place, Board Chair of the Superior-Douglas County Chamber.   “While we are sad to see him leave, we know the Eau Claire Area Chamber will flourish under his leadership.”

Place went on to say that the Chamber Board wishes Minor well in this new endeavor and appreciates the opportunity to have worked with him as Chamber president and CEO. He also said, “I will miss his positive attitude, his always upbeat disposition, his passion for the job, and his love of Superior and Douglas County. His leadership will be greatly missed.”

Minor follows Bob McCoy, president and CEO of the Eau Claire Area Chamber since 1994, who is retiring.
