SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation will host its fifth annual Superior Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 3. The 24-hour online event, promoted largely through social media and e-mail, gives alumni, parents, community partners, businesses, faculty, and staff the opportunity to give back and support Yellowjacket students through the Superior Fund.
Taking place during UW-Superior’s 125th anniversary, the UW-Superior Foundation’s Board of Directors has already kicked off the Day of Giving with an over $6,000 match. This means that contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of each gift, until the match is met.
“It is a very exciting year at UW-Superior with our 125th anniversary and our Day of Giving match to encourage further giving,” said Jeanne Thompson, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. “Gifts made to the Foundation’s Superior Fund benefit our students, faculty and staff, facilities, and more, and maintain excellence at UW-Superior.”
Last year, the Day of Giving raised over $41,000, and this year, the UW-Superior Foundation has set a goal of 200 donors. Most gifts received on Superior Day of Giving are made online, but some donations also come through the mail. When a donation is received online, the donor receives an “I Gave” graphic to share on their Facebook, Instagram or other social media account to let others know they contributed. Every gift of any amount made to the Superior Fund on April 3 will count toward this year’s goal.
“Every year, we are overwhelmed with gratitude over our community’s generosity,” said Thompson. “This generosity has enabled our Foundation to provide incredible opportunities to Yellowjacket students.”
