Adding an Image to a Post

Adding a photo to your post may make it more interesting and attract more readers. It is not a difficult task, but you may find the first time a bit challenging until you become more familiar with the necessary steps.

  1. Please size your photo to a maximum width of 450 pixels.
  2. Once you’ve prepared your photo, log in and creating a post. If you are uncertain how to create a post, please refer to the MAKING A SIMPLE POST heading in the menu bar above.
  3. Between the field where you enter the headline of your post and the icons for altering the text of the body of your post are the words “Add Media”.  Click this icon to begin the image insert process.Upload-Image
  4. A new window will open labeled “Insert Media”. You will have the option of either “Uploading Files”, or selecting a photo from the “Media Library”. Click on “Upload Files” and then click on “Select Files” to locate your intended photo on your computer’s hard drive. You may also drag and drop a photo from your computer into that window.
  5. You’ll see options such as “Title,” “Caption,” “Description” and “Link URL.” You are welcome to enter information into these boxes, however, unless you’re well versed in the WordPress platform, you might be better off leaving well enough alone. As long as your photo uploads and is inserted into your blog entry, you’ll probably be pretty happy by then.
  6. Where it says “Alignment,” you can select whether you want your image to be situated on the Left, Center, Right, or None of the posting area. “None” may be your best option, but experiment and see what you like the best.
  7. Under size, you can select if you want your image to be small (Thumbnail) sort of smallish (Medium) kind of big (Large) or as big as it actually is (Full size).
  8. Now you’re ready to place your picture into your blog post; simply click on “Insert into post” in the blue box in the lower right hand corner of the window. The image should appear wherever you left your cursor when you clicked “Add Media” to start this process.
  9. To edit the size of your image, or to delete it, click on it in your post and select either the edit image icon or the delete icon as shown to the below.Edit-Picture
  10. Once you’re satisfied with the size and alignment of your image, and you’re done writing whatever text you desire, click the blue “Publish” button on the right. Your post, with image, should appear on Explore Superior for all to see.
