Volunteers Invited to Build America’s Longest Hiking Trail

Volunteers are building the North Country National Scenic Trail in northwest Wisconsin. If you’d like to join in, plan to attend a new volunteer gathering on Thursday, May 4th near Solon Springs, sponsored by the Brule-St. Croix Chapter of the North Country Trail Association and its Roving Trail Crew.

Learn more about the trail from expert trail builders who map routes, clear pathways, build boardwalks and bridge streams to provide a premier hiking experience.

New volunteers of all ages and skills are needed and welcomed to build and maintain the trail.

The gathering will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Douglas County Wildlife Area Trailhead on Bird Road. From Solon Springs, travel south on US 53 five miles to County Highway M, west one-half mile to Bird Road, then northwest one-half mile to the trailhead. Click here for a Google map with approximate coordinates to guide you.

A picnic supper will be provided. Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 2nd at www.meetup.com/sscbhikers, or call Phil at 715-372-5004.
