Election ResultsHere are the results of yesterday’s elections with a breakdown of local and statewide results. Notably, Douglas County voters were responsible for the election of Janet Bewley* for State Senator over Dane Deutsch.  She carried Douglas County by 3509 votes, but only won the election by a margin of 1762.

However on a statewide level, Douglas County voters chose the losing candidates more often than the winners. While the voters of Wisconsin voted in favor of Scott Walker for Governor, Brad Schimel for Attorney General, and Matt Adamczyk for State Treasurer, all Republicans, and for Doug LaFollette for Secretary of State, the Democratic candidate, Douglas County voters chose a straight Democratic ticket, in statewide elections.

In Congressional District 7, Douglas County voters favored Kelly Westlund, Democrat, over incumbent Sean Duffy, Republican by a margin of 57% over 41%, however the entire district was in Duffy’s corner by a vote of 59% to 39%.

The county results were taken from the Douglas County website, while the statewide numbers were pulled from WisconsinVote.org with 3359 of 3368 precincts reporting. Please note that the winning candidates or stances on referendums are in BOLD print, and the winning candidates are depicted in red for Republicans, and blue for Democrats.
