Children at Play at Superior’s Family Resource Center

Did you know that there are only five weeks of school left here in Superior? Can you believe how quickly the school year went by? The Family Resource Center, housed inside Northern Lights Elementary, is gearing up for a fun and exciting summer program, packed with activities for kids of all ages.  Three sessions will run throughout the summer, each three to four weeks long.

Session One, Celebrate America,  will run June 15 – July 2 and will have three weeks of activities and crafts leading up to a celebration parade for parents and caregivers. There will be noisemakers, crowns, streamers and more as we prepare for our parade. We will also make and decorate pots and each child will plant their own flowers that they will watch grow all summer.

Session Two will feature a fun and interactive music class taught by Superior’s own Jennifer Robbins, director of the Lake Superior Youth Chorus.  We are so thrilled to offer Superior youth this remarkable opportunity to learn and play through music. The theme for this session is Music and Stories, and we will share and explore fairy tales, fables, and favorite books through story time, crafts, music, and more.

Finally, the Family Resource Center will close out summer with Session Three, Summer Sunset, running August 3-21. Children will celebrate the remaining summer weeks with activities focused on summer. Children will explore nature, perform simple science experiments, and create engaging activities to share with their families as summer draws to a close.

Each session is offered free of charge to Superior children, and each week will also include open play days for those unable to attend our sessions. Call us to register for this exciting opportunity!
