Leadership 2013-2014

leadershiplogo_WEB_1When I was nominated by Cathy Casper last summer to participate in the Leadership Superior/Douglas County program, I didn’t really know what to expect.

Our first meeting was overnight at Minnusing Acres with about 30 people that I had never met.  We had to do an obstacle course in the rain, we got very close , which included holding hands for balance and trying to put ourselves in order of birth months without talking all while standing on a not too large log.  Friendships were kindled. Since then we have met monthly and have had the opportunity to learn everything about the city we live in…topics such as, non-profits day, history of Superior, courts and law enforcement, education, health and human resources and many others.  As our time as a group is winding down, I am going to miss it but feel I have come away with a greater knowledge and appreciation for my home town.  I wish everyone in our community was able to partipate in this fabulous program! I am proud to call Superior home!

As one of the “seniors” in the program, I didn’t think there was much more to learn about the community that I’ve lived in for my entire life. Boy, was I wrong! This is an amazing community with so much to offer both young and old. And the best part about the Leadership program is the new friendships. I’m honored to be a Leadership participant!
