Twenty-Seven Retirees to be Honored

Salute to Service | Explore SuperiorBy Monica R. Tikkanen, Director of Human Resources, School District of Superior

Spring is the time of year that School District of Superior employees may decide to retire. With that, Administration is hosting a retirement party called “SALUTE TO SERVICE” at the Superior Middle School on Monday, May 18th  from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Recognition of the 27 retirees will be done at 4:30 pm. Free and open to the past retirees and public, the event hosts a delicious refreshment table, dessert and coffee. The High School Orchestra Ensemble adds a touch of “class” (no pun intended) to the party.

The formal recognition program was started over 30 years ago. As in past years, the retirees include teachers, support staff and administration. Adding up all the years of service by the current retirees provided to students and  families is monumental. The District’s website contains the names of the current retirees.

There’s a saying that says “If you can read this, thank a teacher.” Another saying is that “It takes a village to raise a child.” With the help of parents, grandparents and relatives working together, and the support of the taxpayers in Douglas County, the current retirees have furthered the District’s Mission, Vision and Goals to “provide all children with the relevant tools to develop a foundation for living, learning and working successfully.”
