12th Annual Rock On! Climbing Event Tomorrow

Rock climbers from throughout the Twin Ports area will gather at the University of Wisconsin-Superior from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, when the university’s recreation program holds its 12th annual Rock On! Climbing Competition at the climbing wall in UW-Superior’s Marcovich Wellness Center.

The competition, organized by the UW-Superior Campus Recreation Program, is open to the public, with categories for male and female beginner, intermediate and advanced climbers.  Each year a wide variety of community members and students from across Wisconsin and Minnesota participate.

Competitors of all skill levels from local universities and communities take part in Rock On! A free youth competition for climbers ages 6 to 13 will also take place, but must register.  Adult competitions run from 2 to 5 p.m.  Registration fee is $20.00 for students and $25 for all other participants.  Free for youth (ages 8-13).

  • Noon registration begins
  • 12:45 p.m. Welcome and rules review
  • 1:00 p.m. Climbing begins
  • 5:00 p.m. Climbing ends
  • 5:15 p.m. Awards and raffles
