Twin Ports Stage Offers Summer Youth Program
Superior non-profit theatre and arts organization, Twin Ports Stage, will hold two performance classes for area youth in August. This is the second year this program has been offered in Superior.
Children ages seven to 11 years old will explore the world of theatre in a creative play class that uses a positive and friendly environment to create voices, physical behaviors and different character personalities through games, exercises and stage work. Classes will be held August 10th through August 14th, and will include a showcase performance on August 14th.
“Last year our students collaborated to write a play using characters that they chose. They also made posters for the show, did their own costumes and makeup, and then performed their play for family and friends. Seeing their imagination come to life on stage was really fun,” said Twin Ports Stage director, Victoria Main.
A performance workshop will also be offered for youth ages 12 to 16 years old. The students will learn the basics of acting and scene work, study the ways in which characters are created, learn to analyze scripts, and work with scene partners to create the world of the play. Classes will be held August 17th through August 21st, and will include a showcase performance on August 21st.
Both classes will be taught by instructors Jennifer Dobbins and Kelly Mullan. The cost for each class is $75.00. More information can be found on the Twin Ports Stage Facebook page.
