Season of Song this Weekend
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents their 17th annual Christmas Choral Concerts on Sunday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior.
The concerts feature traditional and contemporary Christmas music. Both the “Season of Song” performances will be at the magnificent Christ the King Cathedral Church. Joining the University’s A Cappella and Chamber Choir will be soprano Vicki Fingalson who can also be heard regularly with the Minnesota Opera, Minnesota Orchestra and with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. She is also professor of voice and director of opera at UW-Superior.
Dr. Richard Robbins, professor and director of choral activities at UW-Superior will direct the “Season of Song” concerts. He previously directed choirs at Houston’s prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the University of Houston, and his choral groups often performed with the Houston Symphony.
Multiple choral ensembles at UW-Superior will sing traditional and newly-composed seasonal favorites with full orchestra, including works by John Rutter, André Thomas, Giovanni Gabrieli and more.
Tickets may be purchased for $10.00 at the door starting one hour prior to each performance.
Christ the King Cathedral is located in Superior, Wis., at the corner of Belknap Street and Grand Avenue.
