Superior’s bus route will be changing slightly come January 2016, as the Duluth Transit Authority makes makes changes to many of their routes and schedules.

The 16, which travels from downtown Duluth to Superior and Itasca will be stopping several blocks short in Itasca. Previously, the 16 turned back around when it reached 53rd ave. Come 2016, it will turn around at the Holiday gas station just beyond 48th ave. No other changes will be made to this route.

The 17, which traveled from North Tower Ave to Billings Park and South Superior, will no longer be making its usual stop at the front doors of Target, as Target is closing on Jan. 30. The DTA will now travel up Tower to the intersection of 37th St. and Henry Cohen Dr. when servicing to Walmart.

The full list of route changes can be found on the DTA website.

The Minnesota State Legislature created the DTA in 1969. In 2012, people rode the DTA buses 3,261,494 times. They also have STRIDE buses which are specifically operated for disabled riders.
