The following was posted on Kestrel’s Facebook page this afternoon, and we thought our readers might find it of interest. I spoke with a Kestrel representative this morning and he assured me that more news would be forthcoming from Kestrel in coming months.

Kestrel right facing“We here at Kestrel Aircraft feel truly fortunate to have such loyal followers of our project and airplane. The fact so many people have asked us where we are in the design, testing and certification stage of the Kestrel, only motivates us further to deliver a world class product that will re-define the market place.”

“One of the many great traits of our CEO, Alan Klapmeier, and a trait that is shared by everyone here at Kestrel Aircraft, is to only make promises when we are absolutely sure we can deliver. With that value in mind, we have not, nor will we ever, speculated on a certification, or delivery date, until we’re absolutely sure.”

“With that being said, as best we can, let’s give you a picture of where we currently are with the project. We have had a proof of concept airplane flying for some time now, which has helped us arrive at the design we have today. We have a staff of dedicated and talented engineers working hard at our offices in Superior, Wisconsin and Brunswick, Maine. The team is now focused on the preparation required before building parts for “C1″, the first of 3 aircraft to be built and tested, as a part of the process toward FAA Certification.”

“When will that airplane fly? Well, we’ll keep you posted as further details develop and we can make those announcements with surety and integrity. Until then, the entire Kestrel team are grateful for everyone’s interest and support for our airplane and its success. We think you’re going to like what we deliver.”
