Interact Club Spotlight

The Interact Club expressed their support for cancer fighters by selling carnations to raise money for Matt’s Chemo Bags.
Junior Amber Welsh said they chose Matt’s Chemo Bags because the president of the club, Gabby Gidley, has family who was helped by the charity.
“Her aunt actually received a chemo bag, and it really helped her get through chemo and cheered her up,” Welsh said.
Charity founder Matt Ferguson saw patients who had no support from family while his mom had cancer. He decided that he would try to help make their treatment a little easier.
Ferguson’s mom brought a bag of things that comforted her while going through treatment. This inspired him to create the chemo bags.
Welsh said she wanted to inform people about the charity so they can donate on their own.
By Jan. 10 the club sold 101 carnations, making roughly $200 for the charity.
