According to the the agenda for tonight’s Common Council meeting, there is an application to transfer a Class B Liquor & Beer license owned by The Office Bar Inc., at 2129 E. 5th Street to the building formerly occupied by the Old Town Bar at 2215 E. 2nd Street for the remainder of the license period, expiring June 30th, 2016.

A call to the Office Bar yielded no information, as the employee who answered the phone said they were not moving. When asked about the license request, she advised that the owner would have to provide that information. In a follow-up call to the City Clerk’s office, ES learned that the item may have been pulled from tonight’s agenda.

Apparently, The Office Bar has been in negotiations with the owner of the Old Town property, and were attempting to rent the building. The stretch of buildings the includes the Office Bar and the old East End Drugstore has been in danger for sometime of being condemned, so it would make sense that the owner of the Office Bar would be in search of a new home.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the two buildings in question. A City source revealed recently that the two buildings are leaning into each other and may be dangerous and require demolition.
