UWS junior forward Lynne Larson has been named Athlete of the Week in women’s hockey, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced Tuesday.The Yellowjackets who went 2-1 in three road games last week, including a two-game sweep at Saint Mary’s Friday and Saturday. After being shut-out at Gustavus last Tuesday, the Jackets bounced back to winning form on Friday against Saint Mary’s with a 3-2 victory. Larson contributed two goals and an assist in the game, her second goal in overtime to secure the win. On Saturday night she added to her weekend scoring tally with another goal and an assist. UWS won that game against Saint Mary’s by a score of 5-1, completing the sweep.

UWS Head Coach Dan Laughlin said of Larson, “Lynne has been a very consistent player for us since she got here. Last year she had a little hiccup with an injury, but in the end she still had a good year. She had a great week for us and is off to a good start in her junior year, so we’re excited to see where she goes from here.”

Through the first five games of the season, Larson has three goals and three assists. In three seasons as a Yellowjacket, Larson has appeared in 54 games, scoring 17 goals and a total of 48 points.

Conference play opens for the Yellowjackets this weekend with a home and home series against University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. The first game will be at Wessman Arena, Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Jacket’s record is currently 4-1-0 overall.
