Suspicious Package not a Bomb

By Daniel Fanning

The University of Wisconsin-Superior evacuated two residence halls and Wessman Arena Wednesday, September 16 due to a suspicious package found in the parking lot of Ross Hall.  An all clear has been given and students have been allowed to return to their rooms after it was determined to be safe and all clear.

Superior Police Department was immediately on scene after an initial contact with the UW-Superior Campus Safety officer and evacuations took place at the nearby Superior High School.

All campus activities continued as scheduled, except for those in Ross and Hawkes Hall. Ross and Hawkes residents were encouraged to gather in the Yellowjacket Union.

UW-Superior would like to thank all of the local, regional and national law enforcement officers  who worked to make the campus and the community safe.  Especially the Superior Police Department, Superior Fire Department, Duluth Police Department, FBI, Marathon County Bomb Squad, Superior School District and other partners for their assistance, cooperation and partnership.

Student and campus safety will always be a top priority at UW-Superior.
