Duluth Piano Shop Sponsors Free Concerts

What are you doing Friday, April 26th at 6 pm?

Duluth Fine Pianos has been hosting a monthly jazz concert in their new space at 331 W. Superior Street in Duluth since last fall. The video below (©DFP) was taken on January 25th when Tim Stratioti was the guest artist.

This month’s (Friday, April 26th) featured performer will be Dr. Robert Kase, a fine trumpeter whose extensive performing career includes appearances as soloist with professional, university and high-school ensembles across the nation, as well as with many symphony orchestras.

He has performed on over 200 recording projects including four solos recordings and performed with many international performing artists such as Tony Bennett, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Sammy Davis Jr., The Minnesota Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Newton and many others.

Refreshments, including drinks, are available. Show runs from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with an intermission. Duluth Fine Pianos accepts donations to help offset the costs of the artists! They ask that you consider joining the Friends of JAZZ@DFP, and becoming a sponsor to keep professional jazz alive in Downtown Duluth!

Ryan Fran, head of the UMD Department of Jazz, and one of the most talented pianists in the midwest, is leading this effort with the help of DFP owner John Pierce. Each month Ryan is joined by bassist Matt Mobley and a featured artist. Those who have performed in the past include Randy Lee, Sam Miltich, Sam Chandler, Tim Stratioti, and Dave Schmalenberger.
