Councilor Elm Leads Wade Bowl Clean-Up

Wade Bowl is a park that’s close to my heart, as well as my neighbors in the 6th District. It’s our local park, which serves the heart of the city in Superior’s Downtown/North End neighborhoods.

This park is a very busy gathering place and play area providing an escape for children from the densely populated surrounding neighborhood.

In 2017, with the help of community members, we first cleaned up the park by painting the play equipment and hockey boards. We also helped clean up the graffiti from the pavilion and basketball stand.

In 2018, we the community, had an opportunity to reach out to the neighborhood with one of the largest National Night Out event’s the city has ever seen. This was accomplished by connecting Public Safety with the youth of our neighborhood.

Councilor Tylor Elm and Tom White from Park & Rec

As you can imagine, it’s was with great disappointment that I learned how the warming shack was recently vandalized by spray painted graffiti. So, in 2019 I’m reaching out to my neighbors once again to help keep this park beautiful and safe for not only our children, but for the entire community.

On this Saturday, May 11th at 9:00 AM we the community will gather to repaint the warming shack.

This will entail masking over windows and doors, cleaning spray paint from door knobs and locks, and protecting the pavement around the building with drop cloths. Once that is done, one of our volunteers will spray the entire building with a fresh coat of paint provided by the city Parks & Rec department.

Please consider joining us at Wade Bowl, 1228 Clough Ave in Superior for a complete cleaning up the park and to help keep our city neat and clean. We are proud of our parks and with your help we can give back to our community.

Contact Councilor Elm at (218) 461-0356 to see how you can help.
