Something Superior Improv Group

Something Superior Improv is a group of cool people dedicated to the art of improvisational comedy. Improvisational comedy is where scenes are made up on the spot using suggestions from an audience. Perhaps you’ve seen the show “Who’s Line is it Anyway”…that’s what improv is all about.

The group was formed by Cheri Tesarek, a long-time local resident who is active in theater and singing groups. She works with youth theater, performs with the Rubber Chicken Theater group, and has also lent her vocal skills to the Superior Singers and the Shack Pack in recent years. Her improv group will stage performances when and where asked.  They are actively seeking new participants for the group.

According to Tesarek, the skills learned in Improv can be helpful in just about every aspect of life, and on top of that it’s fun to participate. As she says, “So why not try it?”

The group moves their meeting place based on whim and weather. Their Facebook page states that they meet most Fridays at the UWS Black Box theater in the Holden Fine Arts center from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm to play “improvisational games, hone their skills, and have fun.”  However, recent Facebook posts indicate that this is not a hard and fast rule, so it is best to contact her via email HERE to find out where they’ll be next.

Due to the cold weather and UWS being on break, they will meet this week at the Superior High School PAC on Friday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Their approach is “New Year=New Games!”  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Anyone from 8th grade to well-aged is welcome to attend to play the games or just to watch other people be silly and make outrageous suggestions. There is no charge, but donations are accepted and will be put towards the purchase of cool T-shirts for the performers at future shows.

To stay on top of the groups next performance location, or other activities, or to join go to the Something Superior Improv page on FaceBook and ask to join.
