CEU Opportunity For Local Care Givers

A series of monthly 3-hour workshops starting February 2015 – 2nd Tuesday of each month, from 8:15 am-11:30 am, at Essentia-St. Mary’s, Superior.

These workshops are:Helen Bader Foundation

  • Designed to improve the quality of life of older adults, especially those who are the “older old” with multiple health conditions
  • Designed for professional direct care workers and direct care supervisors providing in-home, community-based or in-facility care
  • Designed and taught by advanced practice health care professionals with geriatric certification and real-world experience: Tracy Kuras, DNP, APRN, GCNS-BC, CHPN; Sara McCumber, DNP, RN, CNP, CNS; Mary Lou Donovan, PhD, MEd, OTR/L

All workshops will address cognitive impairments and all will integrate palliative  care and complementary/alternative therapies where appropriate.

Understanding the Care of an Older Adult
Managing Multiple Chronic Conditions
Making Informed Choices in Meeting Health Care Needs
Understanding Mental Health and Neuro-cognitive Disorders
Maximizing Person’s Apility to Function in Daily Life
Developing and Implenting a Personal Plan of Care
Care of the Older Adult as the End-of-Life Nears

Online Registration      Instructors

Fees: $50/session or $280 with pre-registration for all seven sessions ($70 savings)

Discount available for both three or more participants from one organization attending all sessions and for three or more participants from one organization attending individual sessions.

Scholarships available – especially for those providing care in northwest Wisconsin

Three contact hours per session; CEUs provided – It is the responsibility of each participant to confirm that these CEUs are accepted by their professional credentialing entity.

Certificate in Elder Care awarded to those who complete all sessions
